Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to look at the grave.1After the Sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to view the tomb.
And behold, a severe earthquake had occurred, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled away the stone and sat upon it.2Suddenly there was a violent earthquake, because an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and approached the tomb. He rolled back the stone and was sitting on it.
And his appearance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow.3His appearance was like lightning, and his robe was as white as snow.
The guards shook for fear of him and became like dead men.4The guards were so shaken from fear of him that they became like dead men.
The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid; for I know that you are looking for Jesus who has been crucified.5But the angel told the women, "Don't be afraid, because I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified.
"He is not here, for He has risen, just as He said. Come, see the place where He was lying.6He is not here! For He has been resurrected, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay.
"Go quickly and tell His disciples that He has risen from the dead; and behold, He is going ahead of you into Galilee, there you will see Him; behold, I have told you."7Then go quickly and tell His disciples, 'He has been raised from the dead. In fact, He is going ahead of you to Galilee; you will see Him there.' Listen, I have told you."
And they left the tomb quickly with fear and great joy and ran to report it to His disciples.8So, departing quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, they ran to tell His disciples the news.
And behold, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshiped Him.9Just then Jesus met them and said, "Good morning!" They came up, took hold of His feet, and worshiped Him.
Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid; go and take word to My brethren to leave for Galilee, and there they will see Me."10Then Jesus told them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see Me there."
Now while they were on their way, some of the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests all that had happened.11As they were on their way, some of the guards came into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened.
And when they had assembled with the elders and consulted together, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers,12After the priests had assembled with the elders and agreed on a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money
and said, "You are to say, 'His disciples came by night and stole Him away while we were asleep.'13and told them, "Say this, 'His disciples came during the night and stole Him while we were sleeping.'
"And if this should come to the governor's ears, we will win him over and keep you out of trouble."14If this reaches the governor's ears, we will deal with him and keep you out of trouble."
And they took the money and did as they had been instructed; and this story was widely spread among the Jews, and is to this day.15So they took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been spread among Jewish people to this day.
But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated.16The 11 disciples traveled to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had directed them.
When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful.17When they saw Him, they worshiped, but some doubted.
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.18Then Jesus came near and said to them, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,19Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."20teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
