| 1A Song of Ascents. Those who trust in the LORD Are as Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but abides forever. | 1Those who are trusting in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be overthrown. They remain forever. |
| 2As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the LORD surrounds His people From this time forth and forever. | 2Just as mountains encircle Jerusalem, so the LORD encircles his people, from now to eternity. |
| 3For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest upon the land of the righteous, So that the righteous will not put forth their hands to do wrong. | 3For evil's scepter will not rest on the land that has been allotted to the righteous, and so the righteous will not direct themselves to do wrong. |
| 4Do good, O LORD, to those who are good And to those who are upright in their hearts. | 4LORD, do good to those who are good, and to those who are upright in heart. |
| 5But as for those who turn aside to their crooked ways, The LORD will lead them away with the doers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel. | 5But for those who choose their own devious paths, the LORD will lead them away, along with those who practice evil. Peace be upon Israel. |
