NET Bible | New International Version |
By David. The LORD, my protector, deserves praise--the one who trains my hands for battle, and my fingers for war, | 1Of David. Praise be to the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle. |
who loves me and is my stronghold, my refuge and my deliverer, my shield and the one in whom I take shelter, who makes nations submit to me. | 2He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me. |
O LORD, of what importance is the human race, that you should notice them? Of what importance is mankind, that you should be concerned about them? | 3LORD, what are human beings that you care for them, mere mortals that you think of them? |
People are like a vapor, their days like a shadow that disappears. | 4They are like a breath; their days are like a fleeting shadow. |
O LORD, make the sky sink and come down! Touch the mountains and make them smolder! | 5Part your heavens, LORD, and come down; touch the mountains, so that they smoke. |
Hurl lightning bolts and scatter them! Shoot your arrows and rout them! | 6Send forth lightning and scatter the enemy; shoot your arrows and rout them. |
Reach down from above! Grab me and rescue me from the surging water, from the power of foreigners, | 7Reach down your hand from on high; deliver me and rescue me from the mighty waters, from the hands of foreigners |
who speak lies, and make false promises. | 8whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful. |
O God, I will sing a new song to you! Accompanied by a ten-stringed instrument, I will sing praises to you, | 9I will sing a new song to you, my God; on the ten-stringed lyre I will make music to you, |
the one who delivers kings, and rescued David his servant from a deadly sword. | 10to the One who gives victory to kings, who delivers his servant David. From the deadly sword |
Grab me and rescue me from the power of foreigners, who speak lies, and make false promises. | 11deliver me; rescue me from the hands of foreigners whose mouths are full of lies, whose right hands are deceitful. |
Then our sons will be like plants, that quickly grow to full size. Our daughters will be like corner pillars, carved like those in a palace. | 12Then our sons in their youth will be like well-nurtured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace. |
Our storehouses will be full, providing all kinds of food. Our sheep will multiply by the thousands and fill our pastures. | 13Our barns will be filled with every kind of provision. Our sheep will increase by thousands, by tens of thousands in our fields; |
Our cattle will be weighted down with produce. No one will break through our walls, no one will be taken captive, and there will be no terrified cries in our city squares. | 14our oxen will draw heavy loads. There will be no breaching of walls, no going into captivity, no cry of distress in our streets. |
How blessed are the people who experience these things! How blessed are the people whose God is the LORD! | 15Blessed is the people of whom this is true; blessed is the people whose God is the LORD. |
