| 1The priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to Peter and John while they were speaking to the people. | 1Now as they were speaking to the people, the priests, the commander of the temple police, and the Sadducees confronted them, |
| 2They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people, proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead. | 2because they were provoked that they were teaching the people and proclaiming the resurrection from the dead, using Jesus as the example. |
| 3They seized Peter and John and, because it was evening, they put them in jail until the next day. | 3So they seized them and put them in custody until the next day, since it was already evening. |

| 18Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. | 18So they called for them and ordered them not to preach or teach at all in the name of Jesus. |

| 21After further threats they let them go. | 26The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed one.' | 26The kings of the earth took their stand and the rulers assembled together against the Lord and against His Messiah." |
| 27Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed. | 27For, in fact, in this city both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, assembled together against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, |
| 28They did what your power and will had decided beforehand should happen. | 28to do whatever Your hand and Your plan had predestined to take place. |
| 29Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. | 29And now, Lord, consider their threats, and grant that Your slaves may speak Your message with complete boldness, |
| 30Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus." | 30while You stretch out Your hand for healing, signs, and wonders to be performed through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus." |
| 31After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. | 31When they had prayed, the place where they were assembled was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak God's message with boldness. |
| 32All the believers were one in heart and mind.
