| 1A miktam of David. Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge. | 1A prayer of David. Protect me, O God, for I have taken shelter in you. |
| 2I say to the LORD, "You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing." | 2I say to the LORD, "You are the Lord, my only source of well-being." |
| 3I say of the holy people who are in the land, "They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight." | 3As for God's chosen people who are in the land, and the leading officials I admired so much-- |
| 4Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more. I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods or take up their names on my lips. | 4their troubles multiply, they desire other gods. I will not pour out drink offerings of blood to their gods, nor will I make vows in the name of their gods. |
| 5LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure. | 5LORD, you give me stability and prosperity; you make my future secure. |
| 6The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance. | 6It is as if I have been given fertile fields or received a beautiful tract of land. |
| 7I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me. | 7I will praise the LORD who guides me; yes, during the night I reflect and learn. |

| 11You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. | 11You lead me in the path of life; I experience absolute joy in your presence; you always give me sheer delight. |
