New King James VersionBerean Study Bible
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,1First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered for everyone—
for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.2for kings and all those in authority—so that we may lead tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity.
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,3This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,
who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.4who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,5For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,6who gave Himself as a ransom for all—the testimony that was given at just the right time.
for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.7For this reason I was appointed as a preacher, an apostle, and a faithful and true teacher of the Gentiles. I am telling the truth; I am not lying about anything.
I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting;8Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands, without anger or dissension.
in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing,9Likewise, I want the women to adorn themselves with respectable apparel, with modesty, and with self-control, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,
but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.10but with good deeds, as is proper for women who profess to worship God.
Let a woman learn in silence with all submission.11A woman must learn in quietness and full submissiveness.
And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.12I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; she is to remain quiet.
For Adam was formed first, then Eve.13For Adam was formed first, and then Eve.
And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.14And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman who was deceived and fell into transgression.
Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.15Women, however, will be saved through childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.
