To the Chief Musician. To Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph. I cried out to God with my voice— To God with my voice; And He gave ear to me. | 1I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, and he will hear me. |
In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; My hand was stretched out in the night without ceasing; My soul refused to be comforted. | 2I sought the Lord in my day of trouble. My hands were continually lifted up all night long; I refused to be comforted. |
I remembered God, and was troubled; I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah | 3I think of God; I groan; I meditate; my spirit becomes weak. Selah |
You hold my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I cannot speak. | 4You have kept me from closing my eyes; I am troubled and cannot speak. |
I have considered the days of old, The years of ancient times. | 5I consider days of old, years long past. |
I call to remembrance my song in the night; I meditate within my heart, And my spirit makes diligent search. | 6At night I remember my music; I meditate in my heart, and my spirit ponders. |
Will the Lord cast off forever? And will He be favorable no more? | 7"Will the Lord reject forever and never again show favor? |
Has His mercy ceased forever? Has His promise failed forevermore? | 8Has his faithful love ceased forever? Is his promise at an end for all generations? |
Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He in anger shut up His tender mercies? Selah | 9Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has he in anger withheld his compassion?" Selah |
And I said, “This is my anguish; But I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High.” | 10So I say, "I am grieved that the right hand of the Most High has changed." |
I will remember the works of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. | 11I will remember the LORD's works; yes, I will remember your ancient wonders. |
I will also meditate on all Your work, And talk of Your deeds. | 12I will reflect on all you have done and meditate on your actions. |
Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary; Who is so great a God as our God? | 13God, your way is holy. What god is great like God? |
You are the God who does wonders; You have declared Your strength among the peoples. | 14You are the God who works wonders; you revealed your strength among the peoples. |
You have with Your arm redeemed Your people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah | 15With power you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph. Selah |
The waters saw You, O God; The waters saw You, they were afraid; The depths also trembled. | 16The water saw you, God. The water saw you; it trembled. Even the depths shook. |
The clouds poured out water; The skies sent out a sound; Your arrows also flashed about. | 17The clouds poured down water. The storm clouds thundered; your arrows flashed back and forth. |
The voice of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; The lightnings lit up the world; The earth trembled and shook. | 18The sound of your thunder was in the whirlwind; lightning lit up the world. The earth shook and quaked. |
Your way was in the sea, Your path in the great waters, And Your footsteps were not known. | 19Your way went through the sea and your path through the vast water, but your footprints were unseen. |
You led Your people like a flock By the hand of Moses and Aaron. | 20You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron. |
