Corinthians 3
NKJV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New King James VersionEnglish Standard Version
And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ.1But I, brothers, could not address you as spiritual people, but as people of the flesh, as infants in Christ.
I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able;2I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready,
for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?3for you are still of the flesh. For while there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not of the flesh and behaving only in a human way?
For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal?4For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not being merely human?
Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one?5What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each.
I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.6I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.
So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.7So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.
Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.8He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor.
For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building.9For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building.
According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it.10According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it.
For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.11For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw,12Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw—
each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is.13each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done.
If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward.14If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward.
If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.15If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.
Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?16Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?
If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.17If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.
Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.18Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”;19For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their craftiness,”
and again, “The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.”20and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.”
Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours:21So let no one boast in men. For all things are yours,
whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come—all are yours.22whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours,
And you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.23and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.
