New King James Version | English Standard Version |
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. | 1He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. |
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” | 2I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” |
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. | 3For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. |
He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. | 4He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. |
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, | 5You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, |
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. | 6nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. |
A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. | 7A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. |
Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked. | 8You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked. |
Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, | 9Because you have made the LORD your dwelling place— the Most High, who is my refuge— |
No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; | 10no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent. |
For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. | 11For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. |
In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. | 12On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. |
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. | 13You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot. |
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. | 14“Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. |
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. | 15When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. |
With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.” | 16With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” |
