New King James Version | King James Bible |
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. | 1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. |
I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” | 2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. |
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. | 3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. |
He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. | 4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. |
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that flies by day, | 5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; |
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. | 6Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. |
A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you. | 7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. |
Only with your eyes shall you look, And see the reward of the wicked. | 8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. |
Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place, | 9Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; |
No evil shall befall you, Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; | 10There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. |
For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. | 11For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. |
In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. | 12They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. |
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot. | 13Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. |
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. | 14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. |
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. | 15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. |
With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.” | 16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. |
