New Living Translation | International Standard Version |
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. | 1The one who lives in the shelter of the Most High, who rests in the shadow of the Almighty, |
This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. | 2will say to the LORD, "You are my refuge, my fortress, and my God in whom I trust!" |
For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. | 3He will surely deliver you from the hunter's snare and from the destructive plague. |
He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. | 4With his feathers he will cover you, under his wings you will find safety. His truth is your shield and armor. |
Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. | 5You need not fear terror that stalks in the night, the arrow that flies in the day, |
Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. | 6plague that strikes in the darkness, or calamity that destroys at noon. |
Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. | 7If a thousand fall at your side or ten thousand at your right hand, it will not overcome you. |
Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished. | 8Only observe it with your eyes, and you will see how the wicked are paid back. |
If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, | 9"LORD, you are my refuge!" Because you chose the Most High as your dwelling place, |
no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. | 10no evil will fall upon you, and no affliction will approach your tent, |
For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. | 11for he will command his angels to protect you in all your ways. |
They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. | 12With their hands they will lift you up so you will not trip over a stone. |
You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! | 13You will stomp on lions and snakes; you will trample young lions and serpents. |
The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. | 14Because he has focused his love on me, I will deliver him. I will protect him because he knows my name. |
When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. | 15When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him in his distress. I will deliver him, and I will honor him. |
I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.” | 16I will satisfy him with long life; I will show him my deliverance. |
