New Living Translation | King James Bible |
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. | 1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. |
This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. | 2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. |
For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. | 3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. |
He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. | 4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. |
Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. | 5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; |
Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. | 6Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. |
Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. | 7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. |
Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished. | 8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. |
If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, | 9Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; |
no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. | 10There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. |
For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. | 11For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. |
They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. | 12They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. |
You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! | 13Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. |
The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. | 14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. |
When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. | 15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. |
I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.” | 16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. |
