New Living Translation | King James Bible |
When the LORD brought back his exiles to Jerusalem, it was like a dream! | 1A Song of degrees. When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. |
We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy. And the other nations said, “What amazing things the LORD has done for them.” | 2Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them. |
Yes, the LORD has done amazing things for us! What joy! | 3The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad. |
Restore our fortunes, LORD, as streams renew the desert. | 4Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south. |
Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. | 5They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. |
They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest. | 6He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. |
