| 1Praise the LORD! Let all that I am praise the LORD. | 1Praise ye the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul. |
| 2I will praise the LORD as long as I live. I will sing praises to my God with my dying breath. | 2While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being. |
| 3Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there. | 3Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. |
| 4When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them. | 4His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. |
| 5But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the LORD their God. | 5Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God: |
| 6He made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He keeps every promise forever. | 6Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever: |
| 7He gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners. | 7Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners: |
| 8The LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are weighed down. The LORD loves the godly. | 8The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous: |
| 9The LORD protects the foreigners among us. He cares for the orphans and widows, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked. | 9The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down. |
| 10The LORD will reign forever. He will be your God, O Jerusalem, throughout the generations. Praise the LORD! | 10The LORD shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the LORD. |
