But as for me, my feet had almost slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold.2But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled, my steps had nearly slipped.2But as for me, my feet came close to stumbling, My steps had almost slipped.2But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.2But as for me, my feet almost slipped; my steps nearly went astray.
For I envied the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.3For I was envious of the arrogant when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.3For I was envious of the arrogant As I saw the prosperity of the wicked.3For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.3For I envied the arrogant; I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
They have no struggles; their bodies are healthy and strong.4For they have no pangs until death; their bodies are fat and sleek.4For there are no pains in their death, And their body is fat.4For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.4They have an easy time until they die, and their bodies are well fed.

They are free from common human burdens; they are not plagued by human ills.5They are not in trouble as others are; they are not stricken like the rest of mankind.5They are not in trouble as other men, Nor are they plagued like mankind.5They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.5They are not in trouble like others; they are not afflicted like most people.
Therefore pride is their necklace; they clothe themselves with violence.6Therefore pride is their necklace; violence covers them as a garment.6Therefore pride is their necklace; The garment of violence covers them.6Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.6Therefore, pride is their necklace, and violence covers them like a garment.
From their callous hearts comes iniquity; their evil imaginations have no limits.7Their eyes swell out through fatness; their hearts overflow with follies.7Their eye bulges from fatness; The imaginations of their heart run riot.7Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.7Their eyes bulge out from fatness; the imaginations of their hearts run wild.
They scoff, and speak with malice; with arrogance they threaten oppression.8They scoff and speak with malice; loftily they threaten oppression.8They mock and wickedly speak of oppression; They speak from on high.8They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.8They mock, and they speak maliciously; they arrogantly threaten oppression.
Their mouths lay claim to heaven, and their tongues take possession of the earth.9They set their mouths against the heavens, and their tongue struts through the earth.9They have set their mouth against the heavens, And their tongue parades through the earth.9They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.9They set their mouths against heaven, and their tongues strut across the earth.

Therefore their people turn to them and drink up waters in abundance.10Therefore his people turn back to them, and find no fault in them.10Therefore his people return to this place, And waters of abundance are drunk by them.10Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.10Therefore His people turn to them and drink in their overflowing words.
They say, "How would God know? Does the Most High know anything?"11And they say, “How can God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?”11They say, "How does God know? And is there knowledge with the Most High?"11And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?11The wicked say, "How can God know? Does the Most High know everything?"
This is what the wicked are like-- always free of care, they go on amassing wealth.12Behold, these are the wicked; always at ease, they increase in riches.12Behold, these are the wicked; And always at ease, they have increased in wealth.12Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.12Look at them--the wicked! They are always at ease, and they increase their wealth.
Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure and have washed my hands in innocence.13All in vain have I kept my heart clean and washed my hands in innocence.13Surely in vain I have kept my heart pure And washed my hands in innocence;13Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.13Did I purify my heart and wash my hands in innocence for nothing?
All day long I have been afflicted, and every morning brings new punishments.14For all the day long I have been stricken and rebuked every morning.14For I have been stricken all day long And chastened every morning.14For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.14For I am afflicted all day long and punished every morning.

If I had spoken out like that, I would have betrayed your children.15If I had said, “I will speak thus,” I would have betrayed the generation of your children.15If I had said, "I will speak thus," Behold, I would have betrayed the generation of Your children.15If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.15If I had decided to say these things aloud, I would have betrayed Your people.
When I tried to understand all this, it troubled me deeply16But when I thought how to understand this, it seemed to me a wearisome task,16When I pondered to understand this, It was troublesome in my sight16When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;16When I tried to understand all this, it seemed hopeless
till I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their final destiny.17until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I discerned their end.17Until I came into the sanctuary of God; Then I perceived their end.17Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.17until I entered God's sanctuary. Then I understood their destiny.
Surely you place them on slippery ground; you cast them down to ruin.18Truly you set them in slippery places; you make them fall to ruin.18Surely You set them in slippery places; You cast them down to destruction.18Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.18Indeed, You put them in slippery places; You make them fall into ruin.
How suddenly are they destroyed, completely swept away by terrors!19How they are destroyed in a moment, swept away utterly by terrors!19How they are destroyed in a moment! They are utterly swept away by sudden terrors!19How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.19How suddenly they become a desolation! They come to an end, swept away by terrors.

They are like a dream when one awakes; when you arise, Lord, you will despise them as fantasies.20Like a dream when one awakes, O Lord, when you rouse yourself, you despise them as phantoms.20Like a dream when one awakes, O Lord, when aroused, You will despise their form.20As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.20Like one waking from a dream, Lord, when arising, You will despise their image.
When my heart was grieved and my spirit embittered,21When my soul was embittered, when I was pricked in heart,21When my heart was embittered And I was pierced within,21Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.21When I became embittered and my innermost being was wounded,
I was senseless and ignorant; I was a brute beast before you.22I was brutish and ignorant; I was like a beast toward you.22Then I was senseless and ignorant; I was like a beast before You.22So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.22I was stupid and didn't understand; I was an unthinking animal toward You.
Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand.23Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand.23Nevertheless I am continually with You; You have taken hold of my right hand.23Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.23Yet I am always with You; You hold my right hand.
You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.24You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory.24With Your counsel You will guide me, And afterward receive me to glory.24Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.24You guide me with Your counsel, and afterward You will take me up in glory.

Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.25Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.25Whom have I in heaven but You? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth.25Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.25Who do I have in heaven but You? And I desire nothing on earth but You.
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.26My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.26My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.26My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.26My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart, my portion forever.
Those who are far from you will perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you.27For behold, those who are far from you shall perish; you put an end to everyone who is unfaithful to you.27For, behold, those who are far from You will perish; You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to You.27For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.27Those far from You will certainly perish; You destroy all who are unfaithful to You.
But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.28But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.28But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, That I may tell of all Your works.28But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.28But as for me, God's presence is my good. I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, so I can tell about all You do.
