Apply Paul's humility in evangelism?
How can we apply Paul's example of humility in our daily evangelism?

Paul’s Humble Posture (1 Corinthians 9:18)

“What then is my reward? That in preaching the gospel I may offer it free of charge, and so not use up my rights in preaching it.”

What Humility Looked Like for Paul

• He let go of legitimate rights (financial, social, personal comfort).

• He viewed the gospel as a gift, not a commodity.

• His satisfaction came from serving, not from acclaim or compensation.

• He measured success by faithfulness, not by numbers or applause (cf. 2 Corinthians 4:5).

Translating Paul’s Example to Our Daily Evangelism

1. Hold the Message Loosely—Give It Freely

 • Share without hinting for favors, likes, or platform boosts.

 • Offer time, coffee, babysitting, a listening ear—no strings attached (1 Thessalonians 2:8-9).

2. Lower Yourself, Lift Christ

 • Speak so people see Jesus, not your résumé (Philippians 2:5-7).

 • Avoid “Look what I’ve done” stories; spotlight what He’s done.

3. Choose Servant Language and Tone

 • Ask, “How can I serve this person today?” before, during, and after conversations (Luke 17:10).

 • Be quick to listen, slow to speak, even slower to correct (James 1:19).

4. Refuse Entitlement

 • Expect no repayment—financial, emotional, or social (Acts 20:33-35).

 • Rejoice when others get credit or reap fruit you planted (1 Corinthians 3:6-7).

5. Adapt Without Compromising Truth

 • Meet people on their turf—workplace, gym, hobby group—yet guard doctrinal purity (1 Corinthians 9:22-23).

 • Use everyday language; avoid insider jargon.

Simple Habits That Nurture Humility

• Begin each day thanking God for undeserved grace.

• Invite a trusted believer to point out blind spots (Proverbs 27:6).

• Celebrate hidden acts of service—no social posts needed.

• Memorize verses that dethrone pride (1 Peter 5:5; Galatians 6:14).

Encouragement When Pride Creeps In

• Remember: the cross silences bragging (Galatians 6:14).

• Picture eternity—rewards are handed out by Christ, not peers (2 Timothy 4:8).

• Pray for those you envy; serving them cures self-focus (Philippians 1:3-5).

A Closing Reminder

Humility isn’t thinking less of yourself; it’s thinking of yourself less so that someone else—Jesus—fills the frame. Follow Paul’s lead: give the gospel freely, guard your heart from pride, and trust God to do the heavy lifting in every conversation.
