Applying God's dwelling today?
How can we apply the concept of God's chosen dwelling in our lives today?

The Heart of Psalm 68:16

“Why do you gaze in envy, O mountains of many peaks? This is the mountain God desires for His dwelling, where the LORD will dwell forever.” (Psalm 68:16)

From Mount Zion to Our Living Rooms

• God personally selects where He dwells—first the tabernacle, then the temple, finally Mount Zion.

• Today His chosen residence is people redeemed in Christ (1 Corinthians 6:19; Ephesians 2:22).

• The shift from a geographic mountain to human hearts magnifies both God’s intimacy and His claim on every area of life.

Inviting Him Into Every Room of Life

• Daily surrender: pause each morning to acknowledge, “Lord, this body is Your temple—what would You like to do today?”

• Holiness at home: filter entertainment, speech, and habits through the reality that God is present in the house (Psalm 101:2).

• Work as worship: carry His presence to the office, classroom, or field, offering excellence and integrity for His honor (Colossians 3:23).

Church as a Living Temple

• Gathered believers form “a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit” (Ephesians 2:22).

• Show up expecting God to reveal Himself; participate, don’t spectate.

• Protect unity—divisiveness vandalizes God’s chosen house (1 Colossians 3:16-17).

Cultivating a God-Fitting Atmosphere

• Regular Scripture intake fills the “rooms” of mind and heart with His truth (Colossians 3:16).

• Confession keeps the temple clean (1 John 1:9).

• Worship and gratitude create a climate where His presence is welcomed and cherished (Psalm 22:3).

Mission: Taking His Dwelling to the World

• We carry His presence into broken places, making Christ visible (2 Colossians 2:14-15).

• Hospitality becomes holy ground—open doors so others can encounter the God who lives in you (Romans 12:13).

• Service and compassion showcase His character, proving He is not confined to church walls (Matthew 5:16).

Looking Ahead to the Ultimate Dwelling

“Behold, the tabernacle of God is with man, and He will dwell with them.” (Revelation 21:3)

• Our present experience of God’s indwelling is a down payment on the day He physically dwells with His people forever.

• Living now as His chosen dwelling prepares us—and those around us—for that glorious reality.
