Applying covenant loyalty daily?
How can we apply the concept of covenant loyalty in our daily lives?

Setting the Scene (Exodus 24:8)

“And Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, ‘This is the blood of’…”

• The blood sealed a binding promise: God would be their God; they would walk in obedience.

• Covenant loyalty (Hebrew hesed) means sturdy, reliable love – love proven by faithful action.

Why Covenant Loyalty Still Matters

• Christ declared, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood” (cf. Luke 22:20).

• The same God still keeps His word; our response is the same: wholehearted, lived-out faithfulness.

Loyalty Toward God: Daily Practices

• Intentional obedience

– Start the day asking, “What has God already commanded that I can act on today?”

John 14:15: “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”

• Regular remembrance

– Participate in Communion, rehearse salvation history, sing truth-filled songs.

• Steadfast trust

Deuteronomy 7:9: “Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; He keeps His covenant of loving devotion”.

• Whole-life worship

– Time, talents, and resources arranged around His worth, not our convenience.

Loyalty Toward People: Reflecting God’s Faithfulness

• Keep your word

– Pay what you owe, finish what you start, arrive when you say you will.

• Show steadfast love in relationships

1 Samuel 18:3: “Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself.”

• Practice forgiving faithfulness

Hosea 6:6: “I desire steadfast love, not sacrifice.”

• Serve sacrificially

– Love costs something; covenant loyalty pays it gladly for the good of others.

Practical Weekly Rhythm

• Sunday: gather with believers, renew covenant vows in worship.

• Monday: set two concrete obedience goals (e.g., patience at work, generous giving).

• Mid-week: share with an accountability partner where you are keeping / breaking promises.

• Friday: review the week, confess lapses, celebrate God’s unwavering faithfulness.

• Saturday: rest in gratitude, preparing heart and schedule for another week of covenant living.

Verses to Keep Close

Psalm 25:10 – “All the LORD’s ways are loving and faithful to those who keep His covenant.”

2 Timothy 2:13 – “If we are faithless, He remains faithful.”

Deuteronomy 7:9 – quoted above.

John 14:15 – quoted above.

Stay anchored in the God who has never broken His word; then covenant loyalty becomes less a duty and more a delighted, daily way of life.
