Believers' response to God's care?
How should believers respond to God's provision and protection in their lives?

Setting the Scene with Deuteronomy 4:38

“to drive out before you nations greater and stronger than you, to bring you in and give you their land for an inheritance, as is the case today.”

Recognizing God’s Active Hand

• God personally “drives out” obstacles beyond Israel’s strength—provision and protection are His initiatives, not human achievements.

• The verse highlights two gifts:

– Removal of danger (“nations greater and stronger”)

– Bestowal of blessing (“give you their land for an inheritance”)

James 1:17 affirms the same pattern: “Every good and perfect gift is from above…”. Our first response is simple acknowledgment: “This came from the Lord.”

Remembering Past Deliverances

• Moses recounts God’s actions so Israel never forgets.

Psalm 103:2–5 echoes this call: “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and do not forget all His kind deeds… who redeems your life from the pit…”.

• Practical habit: keep a written record of answered prayers and surprising provisions to guard against forgetfulness.

Responding with Gratitude

Deuteronomy 8:10: “When you eat and are satisfied, you are to bless the LORD your God for the good land He has given you.”

• Gratitude is verbal—spoken praise—and visible—sharing resources (2 Corinthians 9:11).

• Ideas:

– Begin meals by recounting one recent evidence of God’s care.

– Share testimonies in worship gatherings; they strengthen the entire body.

Walking in Obedience

Deuteronomy 4:40 ties gratitude to action: “Keep His statutes and commandments… that it may go well with you.”

• Obedience is the tangible “thank-you note” to the Father.

John 14:15: “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”. Love expressed in choices, not sentiment.

Cultivating Ongoing Trust

• God’s past protection builds confidence for future battles.

Psalm 56:3–4: “When I am afraid, I put my trust in You… what can mere man do to me?”

Philippians 4:6–7 urges us to replace anxiety with prayerful trust, expecting His peace to guard hearts and minds.

Extending the Blessing to Others

Genesis 12:2—blessed to be a blessing—is still in effect.

Acts 4:32 shows early believers using God-given resources to meet needs within the community.

• Ask, “Who around me is facing giants I once faced?” then step in as God’s instrument of provision or protection.
