Christian response to justice wickedness?
How should Christians respond to "wickedness at the place of justice"?

Setting the Scene: Solomon’s Observation

“Furthermore, I saw under the sun that in the place of judgment there is wickedness, and in the place of righteousness there is wickedness.” (Ecclesiastes 3:16)

Recognize the Reality of a Fallen Justice System

• Scripture never denies the pervasiveness of evil—Genesis 6:5; Romans 1:28-32

• Corrupt courts do not disprove God’s rule; they confirm humanity’s fallenness—2 Timothy 3:1-5

• Expect disappointment so you are not disillusioned when it comes

Guard Your Heart from Bitterness

• “Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.” (Proverbs 4:23)

• Resentment poisons faith—Hebrews 12:15

• “Man’s anger does not bring about the righteousness of God.” (James 1:20)

Anchor Hope in God’s Perfect Justice

• “God will judge the righteous and the wicked.” (Ecclesiastes 3:17)

• Vengeance belongs to the Lord—Romans 12:19

• Final judgment will right every wrong—Revelation 20:12

Do Justice Personally

• “He has shown you… to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8)

– Conduct every transaction honestly

– Advocate lawfully for the oppressed—Proverbs 31:8-9; Isaiah 1:17

– Refuse bribes or favoritism—Exodus 23:8; James 2:1-4

– Support legislation and leaders that uphold righteousness

Speak Truth with Courage and Respect

• “Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully.” (Ephesians 4:25)

• Daniel before Babylon and John the Baptist before Herod model respectful boldness

• When ordered to sin, “We must obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29)

Pray and Intercede for Authorities

• “I urge that petitions… be made for all people—for kings and all in authority.” (1 Timothy 2:1-2)

• God can turn hearts—Proverbs 21:1; He invites persistent prayer—Luke 18:1-8

Submit Rightly, Resist Wrongly

• Normal posture: willing obedience to civil law—Romans 13:1-4

• Boundaries: never comply with commands that violate God’s Word—Acts 4:19-20

• Civil disobedience, when necessary, remains humble and prepared to accept consequences

Comfort One Another with Future Hope

• “For God will bring every deed into judgment.” (Ecclesiastes 12:14)

• “It is just for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you.” (2 Thessalonians 1:6-7)

• A new heaven and new earth will be forever free of injustice—Revelation 21:4

Living in a world where justice is often twisted, followers of Christ respond by trusting God’s ultimate justice, practicing personal integrity, advocating for what is right, submitting to lawful authority, and sustaining one another with the sure hope of an incorruptible kingdom.
