How can Jesus save us today?
In what ways can we rely on Jesus for personal salvation today?

The Promise in His Name

“ ‘She will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.’ ” (Matthew 1:21)

The Father chose the name “Jesus” (Yeshua—“Yahweh saves”) to declare the mission: rescue from sin’s penalty, power, and, ultimately, presence.

What His Saving Work Means for Us

• Penalty removed: He bore the full judgment our sins deserved (Isaiah 53:5; 1 Peter 2:24).

• Power broken: His resurrection life frees us from slavery to sin (Romans 6:6–7).

• Presence ended: He promises a future where sin is no more (Revelation 21:4, 27).

Ways We Rely on Jesus for Salvation Today

• Trust His exclusive sufficiency

‑ “Salvation exists in no one else…” (Acts 4:12).

• Embrace grace rather than self-effort

‑ “For it is by grace you have been saved through faith… not by works” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

• Confess Him openly

‑ “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9-10).

• Draw near for ongoing cleansing

‑ “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive… and to cleanse” (1 John 1:9).

• Rest in His perpetual intercession

‑ “He always lives to intercede… therefore He is able to save completely” (Hebrews 7:25).

• Anticipate His return and final deliverance

‑ “We eagerly await a Savior… who will transform our lowly bodies” (Philippians 3:20-21).

Living Out Reliance Each Day

1. Start with gratitude—thank Him aloud for a salvation already secured.

2. Stay in the Word—let promises like John 3:16 renew assurance.

3. Speak the gospel to yourself when guilt surfaces: “He saved me from my sins, not my performance.”

4. Walk in repentance—quickly agree with Scripture when you stumble, receive His cleansing, move forward.

5. Share the hope—tell someone why His name means rescue for them too.

Scripture Snapshots for Assurance

Closing Thought

Every facet of personal salvation—past, present, and future—centers on the Person whose very name announces, “Yahweh saves.” Trust Him, lean on Him, and rejoice that the rescue proclaimed in Matthew 1:21 is yours today and forever.
