How can our actions glorify Jesus?
In what ways can we ensure our actions glorify Jesus like the woman’s?

Fragrant Worship That Honors Jesus

“Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached in all the world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.” (Matthew 26:13)

The Lord bound the woman’s act to the spread of the gospel itself. Below are ways we can echo her fragrance today.

See the Moment—Live Aware of His Presence

• She recognized Jesus was about to suffer and die; we, too, stay alert to what He is doing now.

Colossians 3:17: “Whatever you do … do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus.”

• Ask, “What is Christ emphasizing in my home, church, workplace today?”—then join Him without delay.

Spare No Cost—Offer Sacrificial Gifts

• Pure nard equaled nearly a year’s wages (John 12:3).

2 Samuel 24:24: “I will not offer to the LORD my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”

• Give time, resources, comfort, even reputation—anything He prompts.

Act Promptly—Obedience Without Hesitation

Mark 14:8: “She has done what she could.”

James 4:17: knowing the good and delaying equals sin.

• When the Spirit nudges, move; delayed obedience forfeits unique opportunities.

Endure Misunderstanding—Worship Over Reputation

• Disciples called her act a waste (Matthew 26:8–9).

Galatians 1:10: seek God’s approval, not people’s.

• Expect criticism; keep eyes fixed on Christ’s commendation.

Aim for Eternal Impact—Seek His Memory, Not Ours

• Jesus promised global remembrance of her deed.

1 Corinthians 10:31: “Whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.”

• Serve so that His name, not ours, endures.

Fill the Room—Let Devotion Emit Christ’s Aroma

John 12:3: “The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.”

2 Corinthians 2:15: “We are to God the sweet aroma of Christ.”

• Words and deeds should leave people sensing Jesus’ presence.

Live as a Living Sacrifice—Daily, Wholehearted Surrender

Romans 12:1: present bodies “as living sacrifices.”

Hebrews 13:15–16: praise, generosity, and good works please God.

• Continual surrender keeps our lives on the altar, like her poured-out perfume.

Walk in these patterns, and every ordinary setting becomes a Bethany, every act a fragrance reaching the throne, and Jesus receives the glory He deserves.
