How can we aid kingdom proclaimers?
In what ways can we support those called to "proclaim the kingdom"?

Setting the Scene

“Jesus said to him, ‘Let the dead bury their own dead; but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.’” (Luke 9:60)

Jesus’ call is urgent and uncompromising. When He singles someone out to proclaim the kingdom, that person’s focus must stay on the mission. Our role is to come alongside so nothing hinders the gospel (cf. 1 Corinthians 9:12).

Why Our Support Matters

- Proclaimers are frontline messengers; sending churches and friends are the vital supply line (Romans 10:14-15).

- Spiritual fruit is credited to those who give and pray, not only to those who go (Philippians 4:15-17).

- A well-supported worker avoids worldly entanglements and devotes energy to the Word (2 Timothy 2:4; Acts 6:4).

Biblical Snapshots of Support

- Women in Galilee “were ministering to them out of their own means” (Luke 8:1-3).

- The church in Philippi repeatedly sent aid to Paul’s next city (Philippians 4:16).

- Gaius welcomed itinerant teachers “in a manner worthy of God” (3 John 5-8).

- Aquila and Priscilla offered both a home and vocational help to Paul (Acts 18:2-3).

Practical, Scripture-Shaped Ways to Help Today

Prayer Support

- Set regular times to intercede (Colossians 4:3-4).

- Share answered prayers to refresh weary hearts (2 Corinthians 1:11).

Financial Provision

- Give generously and predictably so workers can plan (2 Corinthians 9:7-8).

- Honor laborers “worthy of double honor” (1 Timothy 5:17-18).

Hospitality and Logistics

- Offer housing, vehicles, office space, or airfare miles (Romans 15:24).

- Host furloughing missionaries for rest and medical needs.

Encouragement

- Send notes, voice messages, or care packages (Proverbs 25:25).

- Celebrate milestones and victories; acknowledge sacrifices (1 Thessalonians 5:11).

Practical Skills

- Website design, accounting, homeschooling help, language tutoring—each gift relieves a burden (1 Peter 4:10).

Advocacy

- Speak well of the worker, introduce them to new partners, defend them against unfair criticism (Philippians 2:29-30).

Participation

- Short-term trips to assist, not distract (Acts 20:4-5).

- Local evangelism projects that multiply their message at home (Acts 1:8).

Care for Families

- Babysit, mentor teens, remember birthdays, provide counseling resources (Galatians 6:2).

Cultivating a Culture of Gospel Partnership

- Teach regularly on stewardship and mission so support flows from worship, not guilt (2 Corinthians 8:7-9).

- Keep communication transparent: reports from the field, updates from the senders (Acts 14:27).

- Rejoice together over every salvation, church plant, or translation completed, giving all glory to God (Psalm 86:9).
