How can we answer Jesus' call to "come"?
In what ways can we respond to Jesus' call to "come" in our lives?

Setting the Scene: Jesus’ Invitation to Come

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

Jesus’ simple word “come” is wide-open and personal. He still speaks it into every arena of life, calling us to approach Him just as we are—and to walk away transformed.

Responding with Saving Faith

• Admit your need: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

• Believe His promise: “Whoever comes to Me I will never cast out.” (John 6:37)

• Receive new life: “Everyone who believes in Him is justified.” (Acts 13:39)

Responding with Daily Dependence

• Trade anxiety for trust—hand over every worry (1 Peter 5:7).

• Seek His guidance before schedules or opinions (Proverbs 3:5-6).

• Practice consistent, unhurried time in the Word and prayer (Mark 1:35).

Responding with Bold Obedience

• Step out when He says, “Come,” as Peter did on the water (Matthew 14:29).

• Obey even when the command stretches comfort zones (Luke 5:4-6).

• Keep eyes on Jesus, not on surrounding waves (Hebrews 12:2).

Responding with Humble Rest

• Exchange self-effort for His yoke that is “easy” and “light” (Matthew 11:29-30).

• Embrace Sabbath rhythms of worship, refreshment, and joy (Exodus 20:8-11; Mark 2:27).

• Allow His peace to guard heart and mind (Philippians 4:6-7).

Responding with Loving Fellowship

• Gather with other believers; He promises to be present (Matthew 18:20).

• Share burdens and joys, “encouraging one another” (Hebrews 10:24-25).

• Celebrate communion, remembering His sacrifice (1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

Responding with Servant Mission

• Follow His example of compassionate outreach (Matthew 9:36-38).

• Use spiritual gifts to build up the body (1 Peter 4:10).

• Carry the gospel to neighbors and nations (Mark 16:15).

Responding with Hopeful Expectation

• Long for His return: “Yes, I am coming soon.” (Revelation 22:20)

• Live holy and watchful, “looking for the blessed hope” (Titus 2:13).

• Invite others: “Let the one who hears say, ‘Come!’” (Revelation 22:17)

Every “come” from Jesus is a doorway to deeper life in Him. Answering that call—whether for salvation, rest, obedience, fellowship, service, or future hope—keeps our walk vibrant and our hearts anchored in His unchanging grace.
