How can we daily hear God's covenant?
In what ways can we "hear the words" of God's covenant daily?

The Call to Hear the Covenant

“Listen to the words of this covenant and tell them to the men of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem.” (Jeremiah 11:2)

What “Hear” Really Means

• More than catching sound—Scripture equates hearing with taking God’s words to heart, trusting them, and acting on them (Deuteronomy 29:9; James 1:22).

• Faith itself is born through this kind of hearing: “So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17)

Daily Pathways for Hearing God’s Covenant

• Consistent, unhurried Bible reading

– Set a fixed time; read aloud when possible to involve both eyes and ears (1 Timothy 4:13).

• Listening to audio Scripture

– Commutes, chores, exercise—let the covenant echo in everyday moments.

• Scripture memorization

– “I have hidden Your word in my heart…” (Psalm 119:11). Memory allows instant, anytime hearing.

• Meditation and quiet reflection

– “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth; you are to meditate on it day and night.” (Joshua 1:8). Reread a phrase, ponder its implications, pray it back.

• Corporate worship and preaching

– God designed the gathered church so we “devote ourselves to the public reading of Scripture” (1 Timothy 4:13) and receive exhortation.

• Singing Scripture-saturated hymns and psalms

Colossians 3:16 links “psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs” with letting “the word of Christ dwell in you richly.”

• Conversational discipleship

– Share verses with family and friends; discuss what they reveal about God’s covenant faithfulness (Deuteronomy 6:6-7).

• Obedient action

– We “hear” afresh when we do what we’ve read (John 14:23; James 1:25). Obedience turns words into lived experience.

A Simple Daily Rhythm

Morning: Read a covenant passage aloud; pray its truths into your day.

Midday: Listen to an audio chapter; review a memory verse.

Evening: Journal one way you obeyed or resisted the word; sing or read a psalm before bed.

Scripture That Reinforces the Habit

Deuteronomy 29:9 — “Keep the words of this covenant and do them…”

Psalm 1:2 — Delighting and meditating “day and night.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17 — All Scripture equips the believer for every good work.

Revelation 1:3 — A blessing on those who read, hear, and heed the words.

By weaving these practices into every day, we place ourselves where God’s covenant voice is continuously heard, trusted, and obeyed.
