How can we pray for God's glory?
In what ways can we pray for God's "glory" to be revealed?

Biblical snapshot: Moses’ request for glory (Exodus 33:18–19)

“Then Moses said, ‘Please show me Your glory.’ And the LORD replied, ‘I will cause all My goodness to pass before you, and I will proclaim My name—the LORD—before you...’”

What “glory” means in Scripture

• God’s visible splendor (Exodus 24:17)

• His moral beauty—goodness, truth, holiness (Exodus 34:6–7)

• The public display of His attributes through creation, redemption, judgment, and consummation (Psalm 19:1; Revelation 21:23)

Praying for God’s glory in our personal walk

• Ask Him to unveil more of His character as you open the Word (2 Corinthians 3:18).

• Invite the Spirit to expose and remove sin so His light shines unhindered (1 John 1:7).

• Request boldness to obey, so that your life “may be filled with the fruit of righteousness... to the glory and praise of God” (Philippians 1:11).

• Pray, “Lord, conform me to Christ that others see Your glory” (Romans 8:29–30).

Praying for God’s glory in the church

• Plead for unity that mirrors the oneness of Father and Son, fulfilling John 17:22.

• Seek powerful, Scripture-saturated worship where His presence is sensed (Psalm 29:9; 2 Chronicles 5:13–14).

• Intercede for Spirit-empowered preaching so “faith might rest not on human wisdom but on God’s power” (1 Corinthians 2:4–5).

• Ask that every ministry aim at “so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 4:11).

Praying for God’s glory in our communities and nations

• Cry out for public justice and righteousness that reflect His throne (Psalm 89:14).

• Petition for leaders who fear God, so that “righteousness exalts a nation” (Proverbs 14:34).

• Pray for spiritual awakening, fulfilling Habakkuk 2:14—“the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD.”

Praying for God’s glory in suffering and trials

• Ask that trials refine faith “more precious than gold... resulting in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 1:6–7).

• Pray that perseverance under hardship would showcase His sustaining power (2 Corinthians 4:7–10).

• Request that every deliverance point observers to Him, echoing Psalm 50:15—“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor Me.”

Praying for God’s glory among the nations

• Intercede for missionaries to proclaim Christ where He is not named, “that the Gentiles might glorify God for His mercy” (Romans 15:9).

• Pray for Scripture translation and distribution so all peoples can behold His glory (Psalm 117:1).

• Ask for signs and wonders that authenticate the gospel, as in Acts 14:3.

• Plead for the obedience of faith in every ethnic group, fulfilling Revelation 7:9–12.

Ultimate prayer: the full revelation of glory at Christ’s return

• “Come, Lord Jesus” (Revelation 22:20) that “the Son of Man will come in His glory” (Matthew 25:31).

• Ask for readiness and faithfulness until “the sufferings of this present time are not comparable to the glory that will be revealed in us” (Romans 8:18).

• Long for the day when “we will see His face” and His glory illuminates the New Jerusalem (Revelation 22:4–5).
