How can we stay strong like Paul?
In what ways can we remain steadfast when facing persistent opposition like Paul?

Persistent Opposition in Acts 25:2

“where the chief priests and Jewish leaders presented their case against Paul, and they urged Festus”

Paul faces the same adversaries who hounded him for years. Their hostility is unrelenting, yet his resolve never cracks. How can we show the same steadfastness?

Strengthen Your Heart with God’s Promise

Acts 23:11: “The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, ‘Take courage! As you have testified about Me in Jerusalem, so also you must testify in Rome.’”

• God’s personal word became Paul’s anchor.

• We have countless promises in Scripture (e.g., Isaiah 41:10; Hebrews 13:5). Commit them to memory and recall them the moment opposition appears.

Guard Your Conscience, Guard Your Witness

Acts 24:16: “I strive always to maintain a clear conscience before God and man.”

• Opposition looks for cracks in character.

• Daily confession and obedience keep the heart clean and the testimony untarnished (1 Peter 3:16).

Use Every God-Given Avenue Wisely

Acts 25:11: “If… I am guilty of anything worthy of death, I do not refuse to die. But… no one has the right to hand me over to them. I appeal to Caesar!”

• Paul exercised his legal rights without compromising faith.

• Wise, lawful action can prolong ministry and protect the gospel’s advance (Matthew 10:16).

Fix Your Eyes on the Greater Purpose

Philippians 1:12: “What has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel.”

• Suffering isn’t pointless; it opens unexpected doors.

• Ask, “How might God use this setback for kingdom gain?”

Lean into the Family of Faith

Acts 28:15: “When Paul saw them, he was encouraged and gave thanks to God.”

• God often supplies courage through brothers and sisters.

• Seek, welcome, and give mutual encouragement (Hebrews 10:24-25).

Stay Prayerful and Worshipful

Psalm 34:1: “I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise will always be on my lips.”

• Praise realigns perspective from problem to Person.

• Prayer releases anxiety and invites divine strength (Philippians 4:6-7).

Put On the Armor and Stand

Ephesians 6:13: “Take up the full armor of God… and having done everything, to stand.”

• Truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, the Word, and prayer form our defense.

• Opposition may persist; our stance in Christ is immovable.

Trust the Lord to Finish What He Began

2 Timothy 4:17: “But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me… and I was delivered from the lion’s mouth.”

• Paul’s story proves that God’s presence does not evaporate in the heat of trial.

• The same Lord stands with every believer until the mission is complete (Philippians 1:6).

Keep these patterns before you, and like Paul, you will remain unshaken no matter how long the opposition lasts.

How does Acts 25:2 connect with Jesus' warnings about persecution in John 15:20?
