How can we support ministry workers?
In what ways can we support those serving in ministry, as seen here?

Biblical foundation: God’s provision for His servants

Leviticus 7:36 — “On the day they were anointed, the LORD commanded that the Israelites give this portion to them as their perpetual portion for the generations to come.”

• The command is literal and enduring; God Himself set aside material support for those He called to serve.

• Similar Old-Testament echoes: Numbers 18:8-20; Deuteronomy 18:1-5; Nehemiah 13:10-13.

• New-Testament continuity: 1 Corinthians 9:13-14; Galatians 6:6; 1 Timothy 5:17-18 — “The worker is worthy of his wages.”

Practical ways we can support ministry today

Financial provision

• Regular, generous giving (Philippians 4:15-18).

• Designated gifts for specific needs—conferences, resources, benevolence.

• Supporting missionaries and church planters (3 John 5-8).

Prayer covering

• Consistent intercession for wisdom, strength, and protection (Ephesians 6:18-20; Colossians 4:3-4).

• Form prayer teams or adopt-a-leader schedules so no servant is forgotten.

Encouragement & honor

• Verbal appreciation, notes, texts (1 Thessalonians 5:12-13).

• Public recognition of faithful service without flattery (Romans 13:7).

Practical help

• Volunteering in ministries they oversee, easing administrative loads (Acts 6:2-4).

• Offering professional skills—IT, accounting, maintenance, childcare.

Hospitality & fellowship

• Inviting leaders for meals or coffee (Luke 10:38-42).

• Providing short-term housing or vehicles when needed (Acts 28:7).

Rest & renewal

• Funding retreats or sabbaticals (Mark 6:31).

• Guarding their day off; discouraging unnecessary calls or meetings.

Accountability & partnership

• Serving alongside them, not merely consuming ministry (Philippians 1:5).

• Encouraging healthy boundaries and spiritual disciplines (Hebrews 13:17-18).

Heart attitudes that please the Lord

• Gratitude for God’s Word and those who teach it (Psalm 119:97).

• Willingness, not compulsion—cheerful generosity (2 Corinthians 9:7).

• Faith that treasures eternal reward over earthly accumulation (Matthew 6:19-21).

Blessings that flow from supporting ministry

• Leaders free to focus on prayer and the Word, strengthening the whole body (Acts 6:7).

• Churches experience God’s abundant provision (Malachi 3:10; Philippians 4:19).

• The gospel advances, and many come to saving faith (Romans 10:14-15).
