How do we feel God's renewal daily?
In what ways can we experience God's renewal in our daily lives?

The Setting of Hezekiah’s Renewal

“O Lord, by such things men live, and in all these my spirit finds life; You have restored me to health and let me live.” (Isaiah 38:16)

Hezekiah had been at death’s door. God intervened, extended his years, and he burst into praise. The verse gives three vivid pictures of renewal:

• “by such things men live” – God’s provision sustains physical life.

• “in all these my spirit finds life” – His work revives the inner man.

• “You have restored me to health and let me live” – He heals and preserves for ongoing purpose.

The same Lord still renews us daily.

What God’s Renewal Looks Like

• Fresh mercy every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23).

• Strength that outpaces weariness (Isaiah 40:31).

• A mind transformed, not conformed (Romans 12:2).

• A heart cleansed and steadfast (Psalm 51:10).

• An ongoing washing and rebirth by the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:5).

Everyday Pathways to Renewal

1. Word Saturation

 • Open Scripture expectantly; life flows “by such things.”

 • Let passages dwell richly (Colossians 3:16).

2. Conversational Prayer

 • Talk honestly with the Father; renewal thrives in relationship.

 • Thank Him specifically for daily rescues, as Hezekiah did.

3. Continual Repentance

 • Swift confession clears the channel of fellowship (1 John 1:9).

 • God creates fresh willingness and joy.

4. Dependence on the Spirit

 • Walk “by the Spirit” to experience His life-giving power (Galatians 5:16).

 • Ask Him to breathe new vigor into weary moments.

5. Intentional Worship

 • Praise lifts eyes from problems to the Restorer (Psalm 103:1-5).

 • Singing truth embeds it in the soul.

6. Rest and Sabbath Rhythms

 • Ceasing from striving reminds us renewal is received, not achieved (Exodus 20:8-11; Mark 2:27).

7. Obedient Service

 • Pouring out for others invites God to pour in (Proverbs 11:25).

 • He renews strength as we step into His assignments.

8. Gospel-Shaped Community

 • Fellow believers spur us on and share burdens (Hebrews 10:24-25).

 • Isolation drains; fellowship refreshes.

Scriptures that Reinforce Daily Renewal

• 2 Corinthians 4:16 – “inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”

• Ephesians 4:22-24 – “be renewed in the spirit of your minds.”

• Psalm 23:3 – “He restores my soul.”

• John 15:5 – abiding in Christ bears lasting fruit.

Taking the Next Step Today

• Identify one area of weariness.

• Bring it to the Lord with Isaiah 38:16 on your lips.

• Choose one pathway above—perhaps meditating on a renewing verse or pausing to worship—and invite His Spirit to breathe new life.

The God who added years to Hezekiah’s life delights to infuse our ordinary moments with the same restoring power.

How does Isaiah 38:16 connect with Psalm 23's theme of God's provision?
