How to bring the sick to Jesus?
How can we bring "all who were ill" to Jesus in our community?

Key Verse

“News about Him spread all over Syria, and people brought to Him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering acute pain, the demon-possessed, the epileptics, and the paralyzed—and He healed them.” (Matthew 4:24)

Why the Verse Still Speaks Today

• Scripture records literal events; Jesus truly healed every condition brought to Him.

• He “is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8); His power and compassion remain unchanged.

• Our mandate is to keep bringing the hurting to Him until He returns.

Who Are “All Who Were Ill” in Our Community?

• Physically sick: chronic disease, sudden injury, terminal diagnosis

• Mentally or emotionally troubled: depression, anxiety, trauma

• Spiritually oppressed: bondage to sin, addiction, demonic influence

• Socially “paralyzed”: isolated elderly, abandoned children, refugees, the homeless

Jesus’ Heart for the Suffering

Matthew 9:36 — He “was moved with compassion for them.”

Isaiah 53:4 — He “bore our sicknesses.”

1 Peter 2:24 — By His wounds we are healed.

Knowing His heart fuels our action.

Practical Ways to Bring Them to Jesus

1. Presence and Relationship

• Go where they are (Luke 14:21-23).

• Listen to stories; earn trust through consistent friendship.

2. Intercessory Prayer

• Carry them in prayer as the friends did the paralytic (Mark 2:3-5).

• Form prayer teams; keep lists; lay hands when appropriate (James 5:14-16).

3. Proclamation of the Gospel

• Share the finished work of the cross clearly (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).

• Offer the invitation to repent and believe for salvation and healing.

4. Anointed Acts of Service

• Provide meals, rides to appointments, help with bills—tangible love opens hearts (1 John 3:18).

• Host free clinics, counseling, recovery groups on church property or in neutral venues.

5. Corporate Worship Gatherings

• Invite the hurting to services expecting God to move (Acts 3:6-8).

• Incorporate testimonies of recent healings to build faith (Revelation 12:11).

6. Home & Small-Group Ministry

• Create safe settings where gifts of the Spirit can flow naturally (1 Corinthians 14:26).

• Pray for needs immediately; follow up faithfully.

7. Training and Mobilizing Believers

• Equip saints to lay hands on the sick (Mark 16:17-18).

• Encourage every age group—children to seniors—to participate.

Guarding Our Own Hearts While We Serve

• Remain rooted in Scripture; avoid sensationalism (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

• Walk in personal holiness; unresolved sin hinders power (Psalm 66:18).

• Depend on the Holy Spirit, not human charisma (Zechariah 4:6).

Expecting Results in His Name

• Jesus promised, “Whatever you ask in My name, I will do” (John 14:13-14).

• Celebrate every victory, large or small; give Him the glory (Luke 17:15-16).

• Keep pressing in when answers seem delayed; faith and patience inherit promises (Hebrews 6:12).

Living the Verse Out Loud

Carry the ill—body, mind, and soul—to the living Christ through compassionate presence, persistent prayer, clear proclamation, and Spirit-empowered service. As we do, the same Jesus who healed in Galilee will touch our neighborhoods, and the news of His goodness will spread again.
