How to focus on the unshakable daily?
How can we practically live out the call to focus on the unshakable?

Setting the Scene

“Now this phrase, ‘Yet once more,’ denotes the removal of the things that can be shaken—that is, created things—so that the unshakable may remain.” (Hebrews 12:27)

What Is Truly Unshakable?

• God Himself – “Before the mountains were born… from everlasting to everlasting You are God.” (Psalm 90:2)

• Christ’s finished work – “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8)

• God’s Word – “The grass withers… but the word of our God stands forever.” (Isaiah 40:8)

• Our heavenly citizenship – “Our citizenship is in heaven.” (Philippians 3:20)

• Our eternal inheritance – “An inheritance imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, reserved in heaven for you.” (1 Peter 1:4)

Releasing What Can Be Shaken

• Earthly status and applause

• Material security that can vanish (Proverbs 23:5)

• Sinful habits and weights that entangle (Hebrews 12:1)

• Anxiety tied to temporary things (Matthew 6:31-34)

Living with Unshakable Priorities

1. Fix your gaze upward

• “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” (Colossians 3:2)

2. Fill your mind with Scripture

• Daily, steady intake anchors the heart (Psalm 1:2-3).

3. Worship intentionally

• “Let us offer God acceptable worship with reverence and awe.” (Hebrews 12:28)

4. Serve the kingdom first

• “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.” (Matthew 6:33)

5. Invest in people, not possessions

• Relationships carry eternal value (1 Thessalonians 2:19-20).

6. Hold lightly to this world

• “The world is passing away… but whoever does the will of God remains forever.” (1 John 2:17)

Daily Rhythms that Anchor Us

• Morning Scripture reading and meditation

• Spoken gratitude lists to remind the soul of what lasts

• Regular fellowship—small groups, church gatherings (Hebrews 10:24-25)

• Habitual confession and repentance to keep the heart clear

• Acts of generosity that put treasure in heaven (Matthew 6:20)

• Sabbath rest that declares God, not toil, is our security (Exodus 20:8-11)

Encouragement for the Journey

“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” (1 Corinthians 15:58)

When we tether every thought, decision, and ambition to what cannot be shaken, the inevitable tremors of life only loosen our grip on the temporary and tighten our embrace of the eternal.

Connect Hebrews 12:27 with Matthew 6:19-20 on storing treasures in heaven.
