How can we experience the "fullness of the blessing of Christ" today? Setting the Scene Romans 15:29: “I know that when I come to you, I will come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ.” Paul anticipates arriving in Rome overflowing with Christ’s favor. That same fullness is offered to every believer today. What “Fullness” Means – Not a partial taste but the whole package—every spiritual benefit Christ purchased (Ephesians 1:3). – A life so saturated with His presence that it spills over to others (John 7:38). – Ongoing, not one-time: we “keep on being filled” (Ephesians 5:18). Conditions for Experiencing the Fullness 1. Abide in Christ (John 15:4-5, 11) • Stay relationally close through Scripture and prayer. • Fruitfulness and joy flow naturally when the branch remains in the Vine. 2. Believe the Promise (Romans 15:13) • “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe…” • Trust activates the flow; doubt pinches the hose. 3. Live in Obedience (James 1:25) • The “perfect law of freedom” blesses doers, not merely hearers. • Obedience keeps conscience clear, making room for joy (1 John 3:21-24). 4. Welcome the Spirit’s Control (Ephesians 5:18; Galatians 5:22-25) • Yield decisions, attitudes, and schedules. • The Spirit produces love, peace, and power that cannot be self-manufactured. 5. Walk in Unity and Generosity (Romans 15:25-27; Psalm 133:1-3) • Paul’s collection for Jerusalem was a tangible expression of gospel unity. • Shared resources and reconciled relationships invite God’s anointing. 6. Engage in Gospel Mission (Romans 15:20, 29) • Paul’s confidence of blessing was tied to his missionary purpose. • As we serve Christ’s agenda—locally and globally—His fullness accompanies us (Matthew 28:18-20). Practical Steps for Today – Set aside unhurried time daily in the Word; read until a truth grips you, then respond in prayer. – Memorize Romans 15:29 and thank God aloud that His fullness is yours in Christ. – Ask the Spirit each morning, “What adjustments do You want in my attitudes or plans?” – Repair strained relationships quickly; fullness leaks through unresolved conflict (Ephesians 4:30-32). – Give generously—time, talents, treasure—to gospel causes; God loves to refill emptied vessels (Luke 6:38). – Share Christ with someone this week; the blessing grows as it is given away (Philemon 1:6). The Encouraging Outcome Living this way, we echo Paul’s assurance: wherever we go—home, workplace, church—we arrive “in the fullness of the blessing of Christ,” and others taste His goodness through us. |
