How to keep your name in the Book of Life?
In what ways can you ensure your name remains in the "Book of Life"?

The Unshakeable Promise

“He who overcomes will likewise be dressed in white. And I will never blot out his name from the Book of Life, but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.” (Revelation 3:5)

Understanding the Call to Overcome

• In Revelation, every church is urged to “overcome” (Revelation 2–3).

• Scripture defines the overcomer as one who lives by genuine, persevering faith in Jesus.

– “Everyone born of God overcomes the world… our faith.” (1 John 5:4-5)

• Overcoming is not a one-time event; it is the steady, Spirit-empowered walk of those whose hearts belong to Christ.

Practical Ways to Remain in the Lamb’s Book of Life

1. Place wholehearted faith in Christ alone

– “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life.” (John 3:36)

– Salvation begins—and is secured—by trusting the finished work of Jesus, not personal merit.

2. Keep listening to and following the Shepherd’s voice

– “My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me.” (John 10:27-28)

– Daily Scripture reading, prayer, and yielded obedience keep your spiritual ears sharp.

3. Continue in the faith, established and firm

– “...if indeed you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope of the gospel.” (Colossians 1:23)

– Guard against drift by meeting with other believers, receiving sound teaching, and defending truth.

4. Walk in holiness and ongoing repentance

– “Pursue…holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12:14)

– Confess sin quickly (1 John 1:9). Turn from it decisively. Godly sorrow produces life-giving change.

5. Rely on the Spirit for victorious living

– “For it is God who works in you to will and to act on behalf of His good purpose.” (Philippians 2:12-13)

– Spiritual disciplines matter, yet the power that sustains them is the indwelling Holy Spirit.

6. Endure trials with steadfast loyalty to Christ

– “Be faithful even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.” (Revelation 2:10)

– Persevering through persecution, temptation, or hardship proves the genuineness of faith.

7. Maintain a confessing witness

– Jesus promises to confess before the Father those who faithfully confess Him before people (cf. Matthew 10:32-33).

– Share the gospel, stand for truth, and never be ashamed of His name.

Encouragement for the Journey

• Eternal security rests in Christ’s grip, not ours: “No one can snatch them out of My hand.” (John 10:28)

• He is able “to keep you from stumbling and to present you unblemished.” (Jude 24)

• The white garments of Revelation 3:5 symbolize the righteousness He provides and preserves.

Sober Reminders

• Scripture pairs God’s keeping power with warnings against willful unbelief.

• “Anyone whose name was not found written in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:15)

• Therefore, “work out your salvation with fear and trembling” (Philippians 2:12), confident that God Himself works within you.

Live each day clinging to Christ, walking by His Spirit, and looking forward to the moment when your name is joyfully confessed before the Father and His angels.
