How to live holiness daily?
How can we apply the concept of holiness in our daily lives today?

Setting the Scene: What Ezekiel 48:12 Shows Us

“It will be a holy portion of the land for the priests, who minister in the sanctuary, who draw near to minister before the LORD. It will be a place for their houses as well as a holy place for the sanctuary.” (Ezekiel 48:12)

• A clearly defined, physical space is labeled holy—completely reserved for God’s service.

• Priests both live and serve there; home life and worship life share the same consecrated ground.

• Holiness is not an abstract feeling but a concrete, daily environment marked off for the Lord.

From Ancient Priests to Present Believers

1 Peter 2:9—“You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood…that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you.”

1 Corinthians 6:19-20—“You are not your own…therefore glorify God in your body.”

• God now calls every believer a priest and every body a temple, so the principle of a “holy portion” now extends to all of life.

Practical Ways to Carve Out a ‘Holy Portion’ Today

• Daily communion time

– Schedule it first, not last.

– Word, prayer, quiet listening; treat it as immovable territory. (Psalm 1:2)

• Physical spaces

– Keep a corner of your home uncluttered, ready for Scripture reading, worship music, reflection.

– Guard entertainment choices; turn devices into tools for praise, not pollution. (Philippians 4:8)

• Financial consecration

– Budget with first-fruits giving in mind. (Proverbs 3:9)

– See every dollar as stewardship within God’s acreage, not personal playground.

• Moral boundaries

– Reject media, conversations, or relationships that blur purity. (1 Thessalonians 4:3-7)

– Choose honesty at work even when it costs. Integrity is holy ground.

• Relational holiness

– Treat family life as sanctuary life: forgiveness, patience, service. (Ephesians 4:32)

– Honor marriage vows and single-life purity alike. (Hebrews 13:4)

• Vocational worship

– View your desk, classroom, or jobsite as an altar. “Whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)

– Work diligently, speak graciously, refuse shady shortcuts.

• Sabbath rhythms

– Set aside weekly rest dedicated to delighting in the Lord. (Exodus 20:8-10; Mark 2:27)

– Use that time to recalibrate desires toward holiness.

Why Holiness Matters Right Now

• It displays God’s character: “Be holy, for I am holy.” (Leviticus 19:2)

• It fuels witness: visible difference draws questions that open doors for the gospel. (Matthew 5:16)

• It produces intimacy: “Pursue holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12:14)

• It anticipates eternity: living set apart now rehearses life in the coming Kingdom’s perfect holiness. (Revelation 21:27)

Daily Check-In List

□ Have I protected undistracted time with God today?

□ Is there any habit or space I need to clean out or dedicate?

□ Are my words and attitudes reflecting priestly service?

□ Am I stewarding resources with open-handed generosity?

□ Do my relationships carry the fragrance of Christ’s love and purity?

Living the Holy Portion

God once marked off literal acreage for priests; He now marks off every believer’s life as sacred territory. Guard the borders, cultivate the ground, and let every ordinary moment become holy land where the Lord is gladly served and seen.
