How can we "prophesy over these bones" in our spiritual lives today? The Valley Scene in Brief “Then He said to me, ‘Prophesy over these bones and tell them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD!’ ” (Ezekiel 37:4). God’s command to Ezekiel pictures Israel’s national restoration, yet it also illustrates how the Lord revives anything dead or stagnant in His people today. What Does It Mean to “Prophesy” over Dry Bones? • To proclaim God’s revealed word into situations that look hopeless. • To speak with faith, expecting God to perform what He has promised (Isaiah 55:11). • To align our own hearts, speech, and actions with Scripture so that God’s life can flow. Recognizing the Dry Bones in Daily Life • Personal spiritual apathy—prayerlessness, dullness toward the things of God. • Strained marriages or families where love has cooled (Malachi 4:6). • Congregations that have lost their first love (Revelation 2:4). • Communities gripped by despair, addiction, or injustice (Psalm 107:10–14). Speaking Life: Practical Ways to Prophesy Today 1. Saturate the soul with Scripture. – Choose passages that address the “bone-dry” area and memorize or meditate on them (Psalm 119:25, 50). 2. Declare God’s promises aloud. – “I will put My Spirit in you, and you will live” (Ezekiel 37:14). 3. Pray in agreement with the Spirit. – The Spirit “intercedes for the saints according to the will of God” (Romans 8:27). 4. Encourage others with biblical truth. – “Encourage one another daily… so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness” (Hebrews 3:13). 5. Share the gospel boldly. – The gospel is “the power of God for salvation” (Romans 1:16). Speaking it over lost people is the ultimate way to call dead bones to life. 6. Worship and praise as acts of prophecy. – Praise enthrones God in the midst of lifeless circumstances (Psalm 22:3). 7. Speak blessing over your sphere. – “The tongue has the power of life and death” (Proverbs 18:21); use it to bless workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods. God’s Instruments for Reviving Bones • The written Word—objective truth that fuels faith (2 Peter 1:19). • The indwelling Spirit—gives utterance and power (Acts 1:8). • The name of Jesus—authority over every graveyard of defeat (Philippians 2:9–11). • Fellowship—two or three agreeing bring Christ’s presence (Matthew 18:19–20). Guardrails as We Prophesy • Stay anchored in Scripture; never speak contrary to it (Deuteronomy 13:1–3). • Submit to godly oversight; avoid lone-ranger declarations (Hebrews 13:17). • Let love govern every word (1 Corinthians 13:1–2). Living the Vision Where dryness seems normal, God invites us to stand, open our mouths, and announce His living Word. As we consistently proclaim what He has already said, the same Spirit who breathed life into Israel’s bones breathes into ours—turning death into vibrant testimony. |
