How to raise children as God's princes?
In what ways can we prepare our children to be "princes" for God?

Setting the Scene: God Seats His People with Princes

“He seats them with princes, with the princes of His people.” (Psalm 113:8)

God delights to lift up the humble and place them among His royal representatives. Preparing our sons and daughters to live as His “princes” is a call to shape identity, character, and mission according to His Word.

Foundational Identity: Children of the King

• Remind them often that, through Christ, they are “a chosen people, a royal priesthood” (1 Peter 2:9).

• Anchor their worth in the cross, not in accomplishments or popularity (Ephesians 2:4-6).

• Speak blessing over their lives—words of life that echo heaven’s view (Proverbs 18:21).

Daily Immersion in Scripture

• Start early: “From infancy you have known the sacred Scriptures” (2 Timothy 3:15).

• Make the Bible accessible—read aloud at meals, post verses in bedrooms, listen to audio Scripture on car rides.

• Discuss how each passage applies to school, friendships, and choices (Deuteronomy 6:6-7).

Modeling Obedience and Reverence

• Children imitate what they see. Let them watch you search God’s Word for direction (Psalm 119:105).

• Prompt, cheerful obedience in small matters trains them for bigger challenges (Luke 16:10).

• Demonstrate repentance quickly when you fail (1 John 1:9).

Cultivating Servant Leadership

• Jesus said, “Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant” (Matthew 20:26-27).

• Assign age-appropriate responsibilities at home and in the church body.

• Celebrate unseen acts of kindness more than public achievements.

Instilling Courage and Integrity

• “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid” (Joshua 1:9). Memorize this together before new school years, tryouts, or exams.

• Share biographies of biblical and historical heroes who stood firm (Daniel 3; Hebrews 11).

• Practice honesty in little things—return excess change, admit mistakes promptly (Proverbs 12:22).

Guarding Hearts from Corrupting Influences

• “Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character.’” (1 Corinthians 15:33).

• Set clear media boundaries; preview shows, music, and apps together.

• Encourage friendships that sharpen faith (Proverbs 27:17).

Engaging the Kingdom Community

• Regular, joyful participation in corporate worship teaches identity and belonging (Hebrews 10:24-25).

• Involve them in multi-generational fellowship—grandparents, mentors, mission teams.

• Invite mature believers to speak specific encouragement over your children.

Practicing Prayerful Dependence

• Schedule family prayer rhythms—morning, mealtime, bedtime.

• Teach them to pray Scripture back to God (Psalm 119:9-11).

• Keep a visible journal of answered prayers to build faith.

Celebrating Growth and God’s Faithfulness

• Mark milestones—baptism, first Bible read-through, service projects—and recount God’s work (1 Samuel 7:12).

• Encourage testimonies: “Let the redeemed of the LORD tell their story” (Psalm 107:2).

• Remind them often: “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion” (Philippians 1:6).

By saturating our homes with the truth, grace, and expectations of God’s kingdom, we raise sons and daughters who live as His princes—confident, humble, and ready to advance the King’s purposes in their generation.
