How to trust God in tough times?
In what ways can we trust God during seemingly impossible situations today?

Setting the Scene

2 Kings 7:7 records that the Aramean army “fled at dusk, abandoning their tents, horses, and donkeys…”. Minutes earlier Samaria faced starvation; moments later the enemy camp lay open, stocked, and silent. The shift was sudden, humanly impossible—yet exactly what God had promised through Elisha (7:1).

God’s Silent Strategy

• No swords were drawn, no walls breached. God simply caused panic (7:6) and the siege collapsed.

• The city discovered abundance they did not earn—pure grace.

• What seemed hopeless at sunrise turned into deliverance by sunset.

Ways We Trust God Today

1. Expect the Unexpected

• He still overturns threats in ways we could never script.

Exodus 14:13 reminds, “Stand firm and see the LORD’s salvation that He will accomplish for you today.”

2. Anchor in His Word, Not in Appearances

• Elisha’s prophecy sounded absurd, yet proved exact (7:1-2, 18-20).

Luke 1:37: “For nothing will be impossible with God.”

• Choose to let Scripture out-shout visible odds.

3. Step Forward in Obedience

• The four lepers walked toward the camp before they knew it was empty (7:3-5).

• Faith often looks like one small, risky step that God magnifies.

4. Remember Past Deliverances

2 Corinthians 1:10: “He has delivered us… He will deliver us again.”

• Rehearsing yesterday’s victories fuels today’s trust.

5. Rest in His Unchanging Character

Hebrews 13:8: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

• Circumstances shift; His nature does not.

Scripture Snapshots for Impossible Moments

Isaiah 43:2—He is present “when you pass through the waters.”

Romans 8:28—He weaves “all things” for good.

Psalm 46:1—“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

Philippians 4:19—He supplies “every need… in Christ Jesus.”

Takeaway Truths

• God can solve in seconds what we have dreaded for years.

• His promises carry more weight than our perceptions.

• Obedience, however small, positions us to witness miracles.

• Recalling His record fuels confident hope.

• Because He never changes, our trust can.
