What actions can we take to trust Jesus' authority in our daily lives? See What He Has Done • Luke 8:34 shows the herdsmen “saw what had happened.” Begin each day rehearsing what Jesus has literally done—He calmed storms (Luke 8:24), expelled demons (Luke 8:33), and rose bodily from the grave (Luke 24:6). • Reading the historical accounts strengthens trust; the same Lord who ruled a legion still rules your schedule, finances, and relationships. Run Toward, Not Away • The men “ran off” (v. 34), but they fled from Jesus’ presence. Choose the opposite action: run to Him. • Practice immediate prayer when anxiety rises (Philippians 4:6-7). • Gather with believers weekly (Hebrews 10:25) where His authority is proclaimed. Speak What You Witness • The herdsmen “reported this in the town and countryside.” Likewise, verbalize Christ’s works. • Share answered prayers with family and friends (Psalm 107:2). • Use everyday conversation to credit Jesus’ authority over your life decisions (Colossians 3:17). Submit Every Sphere • Jesus’ authority is total: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me” (Matthew 28:18). • Surrender specific areas daily: – Time management: schedule Scripture first. – Money: set aside your firstfruits (Proverbs 3:9). – Decisions: align goals with His commands (John 14:15). Anchor Yourself in His Word • Trust grows where His voice is heard. Memorize key verses: – Luke 8:25 “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water.” – Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” • Review promises during challenges; His unchanging authority steadies the heart (Psalm 119:105). Keep Watching for His Work • The narrative moves from terror to testimony (Luke 8:35-39). Expect Jesus to act today. • Keep a journal of daily providences; rereading it fuels fresh confidence. • Celebrate every display of His rule, from a restored relationship to inner peace, acknowledging, “The Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes” (Psalm 118:23). Daily, intentional recognition, obedience, testimony, submission, Scripture saturation, and expectation position us to trust—and enjoy—Jesus’ unmatched authority. |
