Link Exodus 8:9 to Jesus calming the storm.
Connect Exodus 8:9 with another instance of God displaying power over nature.

Setting the Stage in Exodus 8:9

“Moses said to Pharaoh, ‘You may have the honor over me. When shall I plead for you and your servants and your people to remove the frogs from you and your houses, so that they remain only in the Nile?’”

• The plague of frogs blanketed Egypt because Pharaoh refused to release Israel (Exodus 8:1–8).

• Moses, speaking for the Lord, offers Pharaoh the privilege of naming the very moment the frogs will disappear—an unmistakable sign that the God of Israel, not Egypt’s gods, rules nature.

• The request underscores complete confidence: whenever Pharaoh sets the time, God will act, proving His absolute sovereignty.

Another Mighty Moment: Jesus Calms the Storm

“Then He got up and rebuked the wind and the sea. ‘Silence! Be still!’ And the wind died down, and it was perfectly calm.” (Mark 4:39)

• The Sea of Galilee, notorious for sudden squalls, had threatened to swamp the boat (Mark 4:37–38).

• With three short commands, the Lord Jesus instantly stills wind and waves—no gradual lessening, just immediate calm.

• The disciples marvel: “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?” (Mark 4:41). Their awe mirrors Pharaoh’s impending realization in Exodus.

Linking the Two Events

• Same Author of Creation

– The one who ordered the frogs back to the Nile is the same Lord who muzzled the storm.

• Instant Obedience from Nature

– Frogs retreat “at the hour” Pharaoh chooses (Exodus 8:10–13).

– Wind and water halt “immediately” (Mark 4:39).

• Purpose: Revelation of Divine Authority

– Egypt learns there is “no one like the LORD our God” (Exodus 8:10).

– The disciples glimpse the deity of Christ, later testifying that “all things were created through Him and for Him” (Colossians 1:16).

• Human Response

– Pharaoh hardens his heart despite clear evidence (Exodus 8:15).

– The disciples grow in faith, eventually preaching the risen Christ with boldness (Acts 4:13).

What These Miracles Reveal About the Lord

• He commands every creature and element—nothing is random or uncontrolled.

• He intervenes with precision; the timing is never off by a second.

• He displays power not for spectacle but to draw people to truth, deliverance, and worship.

Living in the Light of His Sovereignty

• Trust His timing—He can reverse any circumstance as effortlessly as sending frogs back to the Nile or stilling a gale.

• Rest in His presence—storms within or without cannot override His Word.

• Proclaim His greatness—tell how He has ruled over your own “frogs” and “storms,” pointing others to the Lord whose authority never falters.
