How can we live as "Sought Out" in our communities? Our Core Text “And they will be called the Holy People, the Redeemed of the LORD; and you will be called Sought Out, A City Not Forsaken.” Understanding “Sought Out” • God Himself initiates: Luke 19:10—“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” • A change of status: 1 Peter 2:9—“But you are a chosen people… that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” • A communal identity: Isaiah uses the imagery of a city; our faith is never isolated but visible. Living as Sought Out in Daily Life Cultivate visible holiness • Reject compromise (Titus 2:14). • Practice integrity at work, school, online. • Let purity of speech and action mark you (Ephesians 4:29). Radiate redemptive hope • Speak the gospel naturally—share how Christ sought and saved you (Romans 1:16). • Offer forgiveness quickly, modeling the grace you received (Colossians 3:13). Invest in your community • Seek the welfare of your city (Jeremiah 29:7). • Volunteer, mentor, and support local needs, demonstrating tangible love (James 2:15-16). Build welcoming fellowship • Open your home and table (Romans 12:13). • Treat newcomers to church as honored guests, not outsiders (Hebrews 13:2). • Foster unity across cultural and generational lines (Ephesians 2:14-16). Shine consistent light • Matthew 5:14-16—be the city on a hill; good works should point neighbors to the Father. • Philippians 2:15—live “blameless and pure… in a crooked generation” so you stand out like stars. Depend on continual seeking grace • John 15:16—He chose us; remain in Him through Scripture, prayer, and obedience. • When you fail, return quickly, knowing you are “Not Forsaken” (1 John 1:9). |
