Obedience to Jesus shows God relationship?
How does obedience to Jesus' teachings reflect our relationship with God the Father?

Verse Spotlight: John 14:23

“Jesus replied, ‘If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.’”

Obedience Shows Authentic Love

• Love for Jesus is not a feeling alone; it is proven by “keep My word.”

• We cherish His teaching the way we cherish a loved one’s voice (John 14:15; 1 John 5:3).

• Failure to obey exposes empty profession (Luke 6:46).

Obedience Invites the Father’s Love

• “My Father will love him” points to a responsive, relational love.

• The Father’s delight rests on those whose hearts echo His Son’s desires (John 16:27).

• Obedience positions us to experience God’s favor rather than merely know about it.

Divine Residence: God Moves In

• “We will come…and make Our home” describes lasting fellowship, not a brief visit.

• Greek monē (home/abode) parallels “abide” in John 15:4–10—constant, nourishing presence.

• The indwelling Spirit (John 14:17) is the practical way the Father and Son share life with obedient believers.

Scripture Echoes

John 14:21 – “Whoever has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me.”

1 John 2:3–5 – Knowing God is verified by keeping His commands.

John 8:31 – True disciples “abide” in Jesus’ word.

Deuteronomy 10:12–13 – Love and obedience have always belonged together in covenant life.

James 1:22 – Hearing without doing deceives; obedience brings blessing.

Living It Out

• Review Jesus’ words daily; choose one command to practice intentionally.

• Let obedience reshape habits—speech, finances, relationships—so every sphere welcomes God’s presence.

• Expect deeper awareness of the Father’s love; His nearness becomes tangible peace and joy (John 15:11).

• Share testimonies of God’s “home-making” work; obedience not only strengthens personal fellowship but draws others to the same relationship.
