Rahab's faith: How does it inspire you?
How does Rahab's faith in Joshua 2:11 inspire your trust in God?

Rahab’s Confession of Faith

“ ‘When we heard this, our hearts melted and no courage remained in anyone because of you, for the LORD your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.’ ” (Joshua 2:11)

What Rahab Saw—and We Can See Too

• She heard reports of the Red Sea crossing (Joshua 2:10).

• She recognized those events as acts of the one true God, not random folklore.

• She concluded that the God of Israel rules “in heaven above and on the earth below,” echoing Deuteronomy 4:39.

• Without seeing the miracles firsthand, she believed (cf. John 20:29).

Trust Springs from God’s Proven Sovereignty

• If the Lord can split seas and crumble city walls, He can handle my uncertainties (Psalm 115:3).

• His authority spans all realms—nothing is outside His jurisdiction.

• Because His rule is total, no problem I face is beyond His reach.

Faith That Moves to Action

• Rahab didn’t merely agree intellectually; she hid the spies, risking her life (James 2:25).

• Authentic trust steps forward even when obedience is costly.

• My daily choices—honesty at work, purity in relationships—are the modern rooftop where I shelter God’s purposes.

Courage in a Culture Opposed to God

• Jericho’s citizens trembled, yet stayed inside their doomed walls; Rahab alone aligned with God’s people.

• Her stand reminds me not to let majority opinion shape my convictions (Romans 12:2).

• God honors those who side with Him, even when it isolates them.

Mercy Reaches Outsiders

• As a Canaanite and a harlot, Rahab sat far outside Israel’s covenant lines—yet God welcomed her (Isaiah 45:22).

• If grace found her, it can reach anyone I pray for—or me when I fail.

Hebrews 11:31 lists Rahab among the heroes of faith, assuring me that God delights to redeem unlikely people.

Assurance Anchored in God’s Promise

• Rahab asked for a sure sign; the scarlet cord became her guarantee (Joshua 2:12-14, 18-21).

• In Christ, God has given me an even surer sign—His blood that secures salvation (Ephesians 1:7).

• What God promises, He performs; Jericho fell, yet Rahab’s household stood safe (Joshua 6:22-23).

Looking Ahead to Jesus

• Rahab appears in Messiah’s genealogy (Matthew 1:5).

• Her story foreshadows the gospel: judgment is coming, but anyone who trusts the true God will be spared (John 3:16; Romans 10:13).

• Knowing this, my trust rests not in luck or effort, but in the Redeemer who folds outsiders into His family.

Practical Ways Rahab Fuels My Trust Today

– Recall past acts of God in Scripture and personal life; let them inform present fears.

– Speak truth about God’s supremacy, even when culture denies it.

– Act on faith promptly—delay often erodes conviction.

– Welcome all whom God may be drawing, remembering His heart for outsiders.

– Cling to the “scarlet cord” of Christ’s finished work when doubts rise.

Rahab believed before the walls crumbled; I can trust before my own walls move.
