How can we seek God's presence to reflect His glory in our lives? The Radiant Result of Meeting God “And when Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hand, he was unaware that his face had become radiant because he had spoken with the LORD.” (Exodus 34:29) Moses’ glow was not symbolic; it was a literal after-effect of a literal encounter. God still desires that His people carry visible, tangible evidence of time spent with Him. Why Moses Glowed—and Why We Can Too • The source of the radiance was God Himself, not Moses’ effort. • The means was personal communion—“he had spoken with the LORD.” • The result was unmistakable transformation others could see (vv. 30–35). • Under the new covenant, the same principle holds: “We all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into His image with intensifying glory.” (2 Corinthians 3:18) Practical Pathways to Seek His Presence 1. Daily, deliberate meetings • Get alone with the Word as Moses entered the tent of meeting. • Psalm 1:2—“His delight is in the Law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night.” 2. Continual conversation • Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). • Talk with God honestly; Moses spoke as a man speaks with his friend (Exodus 33:11). 3. Wholehearted obedience • Exodus 24:7—“All that the LORD has spoken we will do.” Obedience opens the door to deeper revelation. • John 14:21—love proven by obeying His commands brings the Father’s manifested presence. 4. Worship that exalts His worth • Psalm 22:3—God is enthroned on the praises of His people. • Express wonder, gratitude, and adoration, privately and corporately. 5. Fellowship with saints who shine • Proverbs 13:20—walk with the wise and become wise. • Hebrews 10:24–25—stir one another to love and good works, meeting together faithfully. Guarding the Glow: Hindrances to Avoid • Unconfessed sin dulls spiritual sensitivity (Psalm 32:3–5). • Distractions and divided affections choke the Word (Mark 4:19). • Neglect of Scripture leads to forgetfulness of what we look like in Christ (James 1:23–24). Living Reflectors: Showing His Glory to Others • Radiance is meant to bless the community—Moses returned to the camp to relay God’s commands. • Acts 4:13—the boldness of Peter and John testified they had been with Jesus. • Matthew 5:16—“Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” • Colossians 3:17—do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, turning everyday tasks into platforms for His glory. As we consistently seek God’s presence through His inspired Word, fervent prayer, wholehearted obedience, and Christ-centered worship, He faithfully imprints His glory upon us—so that, like Moses, we step into the world carrying a radiance that unmistakably points back to Him. |
