How can we seek the Lord to lack no good thing today? The Promise of Psalm 34:10 “Young lions go lacking and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.” (Psalm 34:10) - Strength and self-reliance (young lions) can still end in need. - The seeker, not the strong, enjoys God’s unbreakable pledge of sufficiency. Defining “Good Thing” - James 1:17 — “Every good and perfect gift is from above ….” - Matthew 7:11 — The Father “give[s] good things to those who ask Him.” - Romans 8:32 — If He gave His Son, He will “freely give us all things.” Good equals anything that advances His glory and our Christ-likeness, not everything we happen to want. Heart Posture of a Seeker • Faith that He exists and rewards (Hebrews 11:6) • Humility that depends (Psalm 34:2) • Obedience that proves love (John 14:23) • Desire for His presence above His gifts (Psalm 27:4) Daily Practices for Seeking - Immerse in Scripture morning and night (Psalm 1:2). - Pray continually—praise, confess, ask, listen (1 Thessalonians 5:17). - Obey promptly; sin blocks the flow (1 John 3:22). - Worship with believers (Hebrews 10:24-25). - Serve others in love (Galatians 5:13). - Give thanks in everything; gratitude keeps the eyes on God’s provision (Colossians 3:15). Guardrails Against Misplaced Trust - Reject self-reliance (Proverbs 3:5-6). - Refuse envy; God custom-fits blessings (Psalm 37:7). - Resist shortcuts that compromise integrity; waiting on Him never wastes time (Isaiah 40:31). Contentment, Not Complacency “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.” (Psalm 23:1) Contentment rests in what He supplies while actively pursuing more of Him (Philippians 4:11-13). Results of a Seeking Life • Spiritual nourishment from living truth • Material needs met (Matthew 6:33) • Peace that guards heart and mind (Isaiah 26:3) • Eternal treasure outweighing any earthly lack (Matthew 6:20) Stepping Into Today Pursue the Lord with undivided heart. As you trust, obey, and delight in Him, His promise stands: you will lack no good thing. |
