Show daily acts of spiritual love?
How can we demonstrate "love in the Spirit" in our daily lives?

Living Text: Colossians 1:8

“and who also told us of your love in the Spirit.”

What “Love in the Spirit” Means

• Not mere sentiment; it is agapē—self-giving love energized by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5).

• Originates in the new birth (John 3:6) and is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).

• Evidences genuine fellowship with Christ (1 John 4:12-13).

Daily Expressions of Love in the Spirit

• Stay filled with the Spirit

– Begin each day yielding mind, words, and plans (Ephesians 5:18).

– Keep short accounts with sin (1 John 1:9) so nothing quenches His work (1 Thessalonians 5:19).

• Let Scripture shape responses

– Meditate on passages that show Christ’s serving heart (Mark 10:45; Philippians 2:5-8).

– Replace reactive thoughts with truth the moment irritation surfaces (Psalm 119:11).

• Speak life-giving words

– Encourage intentionally: a text, call, or comment that builds up (Ephesians 4:29).

– Correct gently when needed, “speaking the truth in love” (Ephesians 4:15).

• Practice tangible service

– Look for overlooked chores at home or work; do them without applause (Colossians 3:23-24).

– Share resources—meals, time, skills—with those in need (1 John 3:17-18).

• Bear burdens together

– Pray immediately when someone shares a struggle (Galatians 6:2).

– Follow up; love in the Spirit is persistent, not one-and-done (Romans 12:10-12).

• Forgive quickly and completely

– Remember how Christ forgave us (Ephesians 4:32).

– Refuse to rehearse offenses; choose blessing over bitterness (Romans 12:14).

• Pursue unity in the body

– Guard hearts from party spirit; major on the gospel, not preferences (Philippians 1:27).

– Celebrate diverse gifts working together (1 Corinthians 12:4-7).

Why It Matters

• Displays Christ to a watching world (John 13:34-35).

• Confirms our assurance that God’s Spirit truly dwells within (Romans 8:16).

• Strengthens churches, marriages, and friendships with heavenly power (Colossians 3:14).

A Simple Reminder

“Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” (Galatians 5:16)

Moment-by-moment dependence on Him turns ordinary interactions into living proof of “love in the Spirit.”
