Strengthen faith like Hezekiah faced fear?
How can we strengthen our faith when facing intimidation like Hezekiah did?

Intimidation at the Gate

2 Chronicles 32:9: “After this, Sennacherib king of Assyria, with all his forces, laid siege to Lachish and sent his servants to Jerusalem to Hezekiah king of Judah and to all the people of Judah who were there, saying,”

• Intimidation often shows up when we are already weary; the enemy’s goal is to unsettle hearts before a single arrow is fired.

• Recognizing the tactic helps us respond in faith instead of panic.

Remember Who Fights for Us

2 Chronicles 32:7-8: “Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or discouraged…for there is a greater power with us than with him.”

• “With him is only an arm of flesh, but with us is the LORD our God.”

Psalm 27:1: “The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?”

• Faith grows when we rehearse God’s supremacy; intimidation shrinks when we compare it to His strength.

Strengthen the Walls and the Heart

• Hezekiah repaired broken sections, built towers, and made weapons (2 Chronicles 32:5).

• Practical takeaway: shore up weak points—cut off damaging influences, reinforce godly habits, stay accountable.

Ephesians 6:10-13: “Put on the full armor of God so that you can make your stand against the devil’s schemes.”

Pray with Confidence

• When threats intensified, Hezekiah and Isaiah “cried out in prayer to heaven” (2 Chronicles 32:20).

Isaiah 37:14-16 shows Hezekiah spreading the enemy’s letter before God; we can spread our worries before Him too.

1 Peter 5:7: “Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.”

Speak Faith to One Another

• Hezekiah’s words strengthened the people (32:8).

Romans 10:17: “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.”

• Replace fearful chatter with Scripture-saturated encouragement; faith multiplies in community.

Refuse the Enemy’s Narrative

• Sennacherib’s messengers mocked God (32:15-17).

2 Corinthians 10:5: “We demolish arguments and every presumption that sets itself up against the knowledge of God.”

• Filter every intimidating voice through truth; reject anything that contradicts God’s character or promises.

Stand in Worship and Thanksgiving

2 Chronicles 32:21 records the LORD sending an angel to destroy the Assyrian army—Israel never had to lift a sword.

• Worship shifts focus from threats to the Deliverer; thanksgiving anticipates victory.

Psalm 22:3 reminds us God is enthroned on the praises of His people.

Rest in the Deliverance of the LORD

2 Chronicles 32:22: “So the LORD saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem…He gave them rest on every side.”

• God’s rescue produces peace that intimidation can’t manufacture or steal.

2 Timothy 1:7: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.”

Apply these same patterns—remember, strengthen, pray, speak, refuse, worship, and rest—and faith will rise whenever intimidation knocks at the gate.
