How can we trust God to "dry up ever-flowing rivers" in our lives? Our Verse: Psalm 74:15 “You split open the fountain and the flood; You dried up ever-flowing rivers.” Seeing God’s Track Record • Red Sea: “Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the LORD drove the sea back… and the waters were divided.” (Exodus 14:21) • Jordan River: “The waters flowing downstream stood still… the people crossed opposite Jericho.” (Joshua 3:16) • Elijah’s day: “Elijah took his cloak, rolled it up, and struck the waters, which parted to the right and to the left.” (2 Kings 2:8) When God says He can halt relentless currents, history proves He means it. What Are the Ever-Flowing Rivers We Face? • Anxieties that never seem to subside • Sin patterns that feel unbreakable • Financial drains or health diagnoses that keep resurfacing • Relationships that constantly cycle through conflict • Cultural pressures that intimidate faithfulness Why We Can Trust Him to Dry Them Up 1. His power is unmatched. “For nothing will be impossible with God.” (Luke 1:37) 2. His promises are certain. “I, the LORD, do not change.” (Malachi 3:6) 3. His presence is personal. “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.” (Isaiah 43:2) 4. His past works guarantee His future help. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8) Steps to Entrust Your River to Him • Identify the river—name it honestly before the Lord. • Recall His past interventions—write them down. • Pray specifically for this current flow to be stopped. (Philippians 4:6-7) • Obey any immediate step He shows you, however small. (John 2:5) • Wait expectantly—He may dry it up suddenly or gradually. • Testify when He answers; your story strengthens others. (Psalm 40:10) Living After the River Stops • Memorialize it: keep a journal entry, stone, or date as a reminder. (Joshua 4:7) • Share the account with family and church so faith multiplies. • Continue walking in obedience—new territory awaits on the river’s far side. • Worship with gratitude; the God who dried this river is worthy of lifelong praise. (Psalm 34:1) What He once did, He still does: halting what seems unstoppable so His people can move forward in freedom. |
