Trusting God's plan amid rejection?
How can we trust God's plan when facing rejection, as Moses did?

Acts 7:35: The Core Verse

“This Moses, whom they had rejected with the words, ‘Who made you ruler and judge?’ is the one whom God sent to be their ruler and deliverer, through the angel who appeared to him in the bush.”

Rejected, yet commissioned

• Israel’s dismissal of Moses (Exodus 2:14) did not cancel God’s appointment.

• The same man the people pushed away became their “ruler and deliverer,” because God’s word stands above human opinion.

• Rejection often signals a deeper divine assignment rather than a terminated future.

Rejection as God’s shaping tool

• Forty hidden years in Midian (Exodus 2:15–3:1) refined Moses’ character, teaching humility and dependence.

Psalm 105:19 shows the pattern in Joseph’s life: “Until His word came to pass, the word of the LORD tested him.” Preparation precedes promotion.

Romans 8:28 affirms that “all things work together for good” for those who love God, even the sting of being turned away.

The pattern fulfilled in Christ

• Jesus, “the stone the builders rejected” (Psalm 118:22; 1 Peter 2:7), became the cornerstone of salvation.

John 1:11 states, “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.” Divine purpose triumphed despite human refusal.

• Moses’ story foreshadows Christ; both were rejected yet sent to deliver. This parallel strengthens confidence that God’s plan prevails.

Steps to trust God’s plan amid rejection

• Anchor in Scripture

Jeremiah 29:11; Proverbs 3:5-6; Isaiah 41:10 keep the heart steady.

• Remember God’s sovereignty

Genesis 50:20 shows God turning evil intentions for good.

• Receive identity from the Lord, not from people

Ephesians 1:4-6 declares believers accepted in the Beloved.

• Persevere in obedience

– Moses returned to Egypt when God said “go” (Exodus 3:10; 4:20), not when people welcomed him.

• Cultivate humility and patience

James 4:6 teaches that God gives grace to the humble.

• Rely on the Holy Spirit

Acts 7:35 points to the angelic encounter; today the Spirit guides, empowers, and comforts (John 14:26).

• Stay connected to supportive believers

Hebrews 10:24-25 urges meeting together for encouragement.

Promises that hold firm

• “My grace is sufficient for you.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

• “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)

• “The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:14)

• “He who calls you is faithful, and He will surely do it.” (1 Thessalonians 5:24)

Forward with confidence

The same God who turned Moses’ rejection into a platform for deliverance stands unchanging today. His plan incorporates every dismissal, delay, and disappointment, crafting them into instruments of purpose. Trust deepens by clinging to His unbreakable word, yielding to His timing, and following in faithful obedience, assured that what He ordains cannot fail.
