What does "your God will come" reveal?
What does "your God will come" reveal about God's nature and promises?

Setting of the Promise

Isaiah 35 speaks to Judah’s future restoration after judgment. In the middle of wilderness imagery, the Spirit directs Isaiah to reassure the fearful:

“Say to those with anxious hearts: ‘Be strong; do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance. With divine retribution He will come to save you.’” (Isaiah 35:4)

Key Words to Note

• Behold – an urgent call to look, pay attention, expect.

• Your God – personal, covenant language; not a distant deity.

• Will come – certain, future‐oriented action.

• With vengeance / retribution – righteous justice against evil.

• To save you – rescue, deliver, restore.

What This Reveals About God’s Nature

• Personal and Relational

– “Your God” (cf. Exodus 6:7; Revelation 21:3). He binds Himself to His people.

• Active and Approaching

– He is not passive. “Behold, the Lord GOD comes with power” (Isaiah 40:10).

• Just and Holy

– Vengeance is not petty revenge but perfect justice (Deuteronomy 32:35; Romans 12:19).

• Powerful to Save

– Salvation and judgment spring from the same holy character (Zephaniah 3:17).

• Faithful to His Word

– What He promises, He performs (Numbers 23:19; Hebrews 10:37).

What This Reveals About God’s Promises

• Certainty

– “Will come” leaves no room for doubt (Isaiah 62:11; Revelation 22:12).

• Comprehensive Hope

– He deals with fear (“do not fear”), injustice (“vengeance”), and deliverance (“save”).

• Timing in His Hands

– The promise may await fulfillment, but “He who is coming will come and will not delay” (Hebrews 10:37).

• Dual Aspect: Judgment and Salvation

– Same event, different outcomes: wrath for rebels, rescue for the redeemed (Malachi 4:1–2).

• Ground for Courage

– Strength and fearless living flow from trusting His imminent intervention.

Living Out This Truth Today

• Speak Courage to the Fearful

– Echo Isaiah’s call: remind believers of God’s sure arrival and justice.

• Wait with Expectant Hope

– Anticipate Christ’s return, staying faithful (Titus 2:13).

• Rest in God’s Justice

– Release personal vengeance; God will right wrongs in His time.

• Celebrate Certain Salvation

– Assurance produces endurance; our Deliverer is on the way.
