Zeph 3:17 & Rom 8:38-39: God's love.
Connect Zephaniah 3:17 with Romans 8:38-39 on God's love and protection.

Opening Scripture

Zephaniah 3:17

“The LORD your God is among you; He is mighty to save. He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you with His love; He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Romans 8:38-39

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Seeing God’s Heart in Zephaniah 3:17

• The verse opens with God’s nearness—“among you.” He is not distant or aloof.

• “Mighty to save” anchors the promise: His power is active, personal, and sufficient.

• Notice the tender verbs: “rejoice… quiet… rejoice.” Our rescue is wrapped in His delight.

• “Quiet you with His love” pictures a parent soothing a restless child. Love calms, stills, reassures.

Paul Echoes the Same Assurance in Romans 8:38-39

• Paul lists every force that might attempt to pry us from Christ—cosmic, earthly, temporal, spiritual.

• After the exhaustive list he declares, “will be able.” It’s an absolute negation: nothing succeeds.

• The location of safety is “in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Union with Him is the unbreakable bond.

Settled Assurance
